Thomas Jefferson on Resistance to Government

"The spirit of resistance to government is so valuable on certain occasions, that I wish it to be always kept alive. It will often be execised when wrong but better so than not to be exercised at all. I like a little rebellion now and then. It is like a storm in the atmosphere."
- Thomas Jefferson in a letter to Abilgail Adams

Jefferson knew that all governments were eventually going to become oppressive, and that is why he said those words. Now we know how oppressive a body of gov't can be. Power is what they seek under the guise of benevolence. I'll give you this and I'll give you that and like sheep we stand there with our hands out, increasing our dependency on them and increasing their powwer over us. Until we are ready to go cold turkey we can't expect much to change.
