A Message from Russ Feingold

Senator Russ Feingold is asking for our input to help shape national priorities.

"After working in the minority for so many years, the new 110th Congress is finally in a position to advance real reform. This new session of Congress brings fresh optimism to several important issues facing Americans today. Universal health care, protecting social security, advancing alternative energy sources, and an increase in the minimum wage are just a few of the issues that can now be moved forward. Today I'm asking for your input on how we should go about developing a forward thinking domestic policy.

Please take our ten-question national priorities survey

I've already started tackling one of the most important issues voters were concerned about when they went to the polls in November - corruption. On Monday, Senator Barack Obama and I introduced an ethics reform bill that will work to curtail the abuses we saw over the last few years with scandal after scandal. Our bill would create an independent panel, the Office of Public Integrity, that would work to curb the illicit abuses of power that seemed to be an everyday occurrence of previous Congresses. Our legislation will also ban gifts from corporate lobbyists, curb legislators' use of corporate jets for travel and slow the revolving door between lobbyists and government officials – it continues the work our colleagues in the House started with their ethics reform measure that passed last week.

Due to the hard work of people like you, we accomplished a lot this past election. Now is the time to take advantage of our recent victories and work on the issues and values we all share. I hope you'll take a moment and fill out our national priorities survey.

Please pass this message to friends and family who agree that we need to work to promote a forward thinking domestic agenda. Thank you for your continued support. I appreciate your time to help us work towards a progressive domestic agenda and look forward to your responses.

Sincerely,

Russ Feingold, U.S. Senator
Honorary Chair, Progressive Patriots Fund"
