Who Supports Our Troops?

Just in time for election day, the Iraq Afghanistan Veterans of America (IAVA) has released its official rating for every member of Congress.

This scale will help American Voters determine how well their representative has or has not supported our fellow Americans who serve honorably in our armed forces. . Please visit this site before you vote.

"These new ratings are the first-ever comprehensive guide to your legislators' performance on issues that affect the lives of the newest generation of troops and veterans, and their families. We've counted every vote cast on IAVA issues for the last five years, crunched the numbers, and given every legislator a letter grade.

Did your Senator get an A or an F? Click here to find out.

Supporting the troops should mean more than wearing an American flag lapel pin. This is your chance to check your Senators' and Representatives' dedication to the troops serving in Iraq and Afghanistan -- and to hold them accountable if their votes don't match their rhetoric."

Greedy Politicians

Steve,

Let us agree there is corruption all the way up the political food chain. Corruption does not only happen in the big city and in Washington DC. How many subdivisions have you seen planted on top of old landfills? City councils are too often good place to make land deals with developers.

Getting into petty arguments about who steals the most will get us nowhere. I know you don't believe strengthening whistleblower laws will help this problem.

I strongly disagree! People who tell the truth and protect the common good should be rewarded in America. They should also be paid for doing the right thing.

There is no way we will ever eliminate corruption. We can only hope to contain it. Too many people are just plain greedy by nature. Unfortunately, just like child molesters working with children, greedy politicians screw us all.

Support Our Troops - Listen to Them

Its amazing how the American media works. We have lost fifteen more American service people over the last couple days, and what is getting attention? Its just another sex scandal. And it wasn't even real sex.

Florida Republican Rep. Mark Foley's instant message records indicate he is a dude who gets off on fantasy cyber sex with teenaged boys. I believe this is the first virtual sex scandal in Washington DC political history.

Back here in the real world, American men and women are killed, maimed and scarred, both physically and emotionally every day. War is hell. Finally, the mainstream media is beginning to support our troops by speaking the truth about their sacrifices.

Dear Friend,

Here at IAVA, we've been talking for over two years about flood of Iraq veterans coming home with serious mental health issues like depression and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. Finally, these crucial issues are beginning to get the attention they deserve.

This week, US News and World Report did a great story on the issue, featuring me and IAVA Member Vet Michael Zacchea. This article is one of the most comprehensive and high-visibility pieces to date published on the growing problem of PTSD.

You can see all of our press coverage, including recent op-eds in the New York Times and New York Daily News and an appearance on Fox News, by clicking here. Like what you read? Remember to forward IAVA articles to spread the word about these crucial issues.

Sincerely,

Paul Rieckhoff
