No matter what you see on the TV news, street protests happen everyday in America!

"If the doves were to give in to their critics and shut up, then we would all have to trust the Bush administration completely to decide whether to continue, escalate, or end the war. The government would have a free hand to do as it likes. Far from showing their patriotism, critics who muzzle themselves in wartime are abdicating a democratic responsibility."

Calling all anti-war and social justice activists:

Help organize Oct. 27 Detroit March Against Racism and War

First, this Saturday, Oct. 13, in Detroit we will be going out into the community with sound cars and leafleting crews to build the Oct 27
March Against Racism & War. We want every store in the neighborhood to post flyers (many already have from last Saturday's effort). We want every lamp post to have flyers taped/stapled up. We want to go up and down every street talking to the people about how the war is draining much needed funds from our cities. We want to sign up new activists - many who are angry about the many outrages like the Jena 6 case.

Join us at 1:30 PM sharp at 5922 Second Avenue (just north of Wayne State
University at Antoinette Street). We will be done by 5 PM or so.

Next, we want to invite all activists in lower Michigan to come to Detroit on Oct. 27th for the "March Against Racism and War." We will be marching through one of the poorest neighborhoods in the city. All are welcome! Bring a carload, van load or bus load from your church, anti-war committee or school. Make a sign identifying your city. We want to show that the entire state, urban, suburban and rural are UNITED to demand an end to the war and racism.

"The People can deal with problems, the leadership can not." - Mike Gravel

This evening I heard a straight talking from a 77 year old former representative and senator from Alaska, who is now a Democratic Presidential Candidate. Make Gravel appeared on Real Time with Bill Maher and spoke the truth. He spoke of the issues that should concern every American. Following are some of his observations.

Congress & Bush Co. - "Follow the money if you want to know the government you have."

Democratic Presidential Candidates - "Any candidate who voted for the Iraq War is not fit to be president of the United States, and I will include Obama, because he has not shown leadership."

Global Warming - "We are losing ice sheets in Alaska. This is far more a threat than anything else we are facing."

Iraq - "We had know right to be there in the first place. It is their country." "We need to get our troops out of Iraq in 120 days." "Like during Vietnam, the Republicans are asking for just a little bit more time and we can win. What is there left to 'win' in Iraq?"

China - "They could put us into bankruptcy at an time. And Congress is talking about a trade war?" "They refuse to deal with this problem."

On We the People - "The people need to be empowered. They need to be the ones making new laws."

Hmm, this last statement sounds an awful lot like article v. It sounds like Mike Gravel would like to empower We the People. It appears he believes we can solve our problems better than career politicians on the take.
