Support Our Troops - Watch This Video

Today, I received this message from:

Dear Friend,

"A couple of weeks ago, we told you about a pressing issue - the dramatic budget cut Congress had TBI planned for the treatment of brain-injured troops. Thousands of Iraq vets are affected by Traumatic Brain Injury after being too near a roadside bomb or mortar attack, making TBI the signature wound of the war in Iraq. Check out this video to see the risks hundreds of thousands of our troops are facing.

So what's happening now? Your letters and phone calls kept the budget cut from being finalized - but we haven't won yet. Sen. Durbin (D-IL) and Sen. Allen (R-VA) introduced amendments to give the TBI research and treatment center back the funding they need. But the amendments were put off until later this month, when Congress gets back from recess.

So the politicians told wounded troops to wait.
This is a new low, even from a "do-nothing Congress" like this one. Rest assured, when Congress is back in session, IAVA will be holding the politicians' feet to the fire."

Please,

If there was ever a need to get RID of these GOP asswipes...it was also when I watched Sen Patty Murray try to get additional funding for the VA to meet the existing and future obligations to our injured Vets.

I posted on this about how she explained the most recent GAO report that "The VA budgets for fiscal 2005 and 2006 were based on "unrealistic assumptions, errors in estimation and insufficient data."

And it was the Repiglicans that shot her request down - citing HOW much more they had done for the VA and our Troops (and never even addressing this GAO that described merely doing *more* doesn't mean it was adequate for funding to aid current and future Vets.)

It was despicable and disgusting a slight-of-hand performance to deny the funds needed to care for our fighting men and women!
