CTRL-T is a keyboard shortcut for creating a hanging indent. Simply highlight the paragraph that needs a hanging indent and select CTRL-T on your keyboard.

- Select the text where you want to add a hanging indent.
- Go to Home > Paragraph dialog launcher. > Indents and Spacing.
- Under Special, select Hanging. You can adjust the depth of the indent using the By field.
- Select OK.
- Place the cursor at the beginning of your text, highlighting the entry or entries.
- Go to the “Format” drop-down menu.
- Select “Align & indent.”
- Select “Indentation options.”
- In the “Special indent” field, select “Hanging.”
- The default indentation amount setting is 0.5 inches.
Alternatively referred to as Control+W and C-w, ^w, Ctrl+W is a keyboard shortcut most often used to close a program, window, tab, or document.
CTRL+Y. To reverse your last Undo, press CTRL+Y. You can reverse more than one action that has been undone. You can use Redo command only after Undo command. Select all.
Under Indentation, set Special to “First line” and By to 0.5″. Under Spacing, set Line spacing to “Double.” Click OK, and these formatting rules will be applied to this paragraph and to every paragraph you type after it (assuming you don’t change the formatting of a later paragraph).
- Open the Pages app, and open an existing or new document.
- Tap the space just to the left of the line you wish to indent.
- Tap on the blue cursor line.
- Tap the word “Insert” in the menu bar that appears.
- Tap the line and arrow combination beside the word “Tab.”
The tab key will be located at the top left hand corner of the keyboard screen, tab icon is an arrow pointing to the right with a vertical line after it. If you tap in front of the sentence or place you want to indent, then tap again, not double tap, options will appear and you can choose indent.
- Place your cursor at the beginning of your citation, and highlight it.
- Right click your mouse.
- Select Paragraph from the resulting pop up menu.
- Under Indentation, use the Special pull-down menu to select hanging.
- Use the By menu to select 0.5″
To indent the first line of a paragraph, put your cursor at the beginning of the paragraph and press the tab key. When you press Enter to start the next paragraph, its first line will be indented.
- Highlight the citations.
- Open the format menu by clicking [format paintbrush] on the right hand menu.
- Click on Layout in the menu.
- Under indents, change first to 0.00 and left 0.5.
- This should automatically reformat the text into a hanging indent or click the update button in the top right if it does not.
Hanging indents in Google Docs Along the top menu, click on “Format,” then go down to “Align & indent,” then click on “Indentation options.” In the Indentation options menu, under “Special,” select “Hanging.” Click “Apply.”
To indent all of the lines in a highlighted segment of text, click on the Format menu in Google Docs, followed by Align & Indent. Then click on Indentation Options. In the Indentation Options window, you can select a specific number of inches to indent the highlighted text to the right or to the left.

Ctrl+H in word processors and text editors In word processors and text editors, Ctrl + H opens the find and replace tool that allows you to search for a character, word, or phrase and replace it with something else. Note. If you only want to find text and not replace, use the Ctrl+F shortcut.
Control-Z as a text editing command for “undo” dates back to software designers at Xerox PARC, which pioneered many user interface conventions in the 1970’s and 1980’s. Other text editing keyboard shortcuts are Control-X for cut, Control-C for copy, and Control-V for paste.
Ctrl + E. Aligns the line or selected text to the center of the screen.
Ctrl + A → Select all content. Ctrl + Z → Undo an action. Ctrl + Y → Redo an action.
Generally, a tab is the same width as 4 to 5 spaces provided the font being used equally sizes each character. For example, the Courier font’s tab equals 5 spaces, whereas the Arial font is 11 spaces to each tab when the font size for both is set to 12.
An indent sets the distance between the left and the right margins. It’s also used in bullets and numbering to ensure that the text lines up properly. Tabs come into play when you press the Tab key on your keyboard. It moves the cursor one-half inch by default, much like a shortcut for several spaces.
On Android and iPhone Now tap the return key so there’s space between the first line and the rest of the paragraph. Then, tap on the ‘A’ with the horizontal lines in the toolbar above. Under the Paragraph section, tap on the right-indent option. And just like that, you have a hanging indent.
Open the Pages application on your Mac, and then create a new document. Click the Document icon at the top of the window, as shown below. In the sidebar, in the Document Margins section, change the values in the the Top, Bottom, Left, and Right fields to adjust the margins, as shown below.
You can also close tabs from the Tab Overview Screen. Touch and hold Done, then tap Close All Tabs.
To insert tab, on the line you want to insert tab, touch the current cursor then a pop-up appear should appear for more editing. Select Insert; then tab.
Right Line Indent Indents all the lines of the paragraph a specific distance from the right margin. Hanging Indent Indents all the lines of the paragraph a specific distance from the left margin except the first line.
When you press the Enter key, it starts a new paragraph, and the indent style over again. If you need to start another line within the paragraph that continues the format, use Shift+ Enter. This creates a new line without ending the paragraph.
