Standard 60-inch and 72-inch round tables comfortably seat anywhere from **eight to 12 guests**, depending on the meal service and table décor. Round tables are widely available and allow maximum capacity in nearly every venue.

When figuring out seating you want to plan on about 2 feet for each person. With this in mind an 8 foot banquet table will comfortably be able to hold **8 people** ( 4 people on each side). You may also be able to squeeze an additional 2 people by putting a seat at each end of the table.

For a large wedding with 100 guests, we’d recommend to have **at least 8 people per table**, as there simply won’t be enough room at most venues for more tables. For weddings with fewer guests, you can probably afford to sit 6 guests around each table.

Common setup includes **4 eight foot tables**. Conference style is NOT ideal for groups of more than 30 people. For groups of more than 30 and discussion/interaction needs to be made, U shaped is ideal.

The most popular average banquet table size is a **60″ round table**. The standard table sizes for events are 30″ round tables, 24″ x 24″ square tables, 36″ round tables, 42″ round tables, 48″ round tables, 54″ round tables, 30″ x 72″ rectangular tables, 60″ round tables, 30″ x 96″ rectangular tables, 72″ round tables.

60 inch Round (5′) | Seats 8 – 10 Adults |

For example a standard 6 foot banquet table is **72 inches x 30 inches with a 30 inch drop to the** floor. For this example you will need 72 inches of fabric for the table top plus your desired drop. A standard banquet linen for a 6 foot table is 96 inches long x 60 inches wide (8 foot banquet linen).

If rectangular, and the table length is 5 feet: sits **4-6 comfortably**; if it’s 5 feet round, up to 8 people comfortably; If rectangular, and the table length is 6 feet: sits 6-8 comfortably; if it’s 6 feet round: up to 10 people comfortably (if you use banquet chairs, you can squeeze 12 people);

A 4 ft. banquet table can comfortably **seat 4 guests**, and a 6 ft. banquet table can comfortably sit 6.

150 guests will fit at **15 round tables** or 18 rectangle tables. The rectangle table option means you are paying for three additional centerpieces, linens, and tables.

So let’s break this down into inches. The circumference of a 72-inch table is about 226 inches. In general, to sit comfortably most people need **about 24 inches** of table space.

For this kind of service, we recommend 1 server for every 16-20 guests, and **one stationary bartender for every 70 – 100 guests**. There is nothing quite like a well executed dinner service. a sit down dinner allows for intimate contact between guests while sharing a meal.

All banquets should be completed **in less than three hours**. Two hours for small groups should be plenty of time. Get the job done, but do not wear people out in the process. Most of us have been present at banquets where inappropriate language was used.

Banquet tables need **about 5 feet** between them for chairs and walkways. So from table center to table center, each 72” banquet round in a row needs 11 feet: 6 feet of table and 5 feet of space. (60” rounds need 10 feet: 5 feet of table, and 5 feet of space.

If you have a small house or dining room, bear in mind that **round tables take up less space**. They have a smaller surface area than their rectangular counterparts so will fit into tighter spaces much more easily.

As a general rule, standard dimensions make round tables available in **36”, 48”, 60”, and 72”**, with enough space to be able to seat 2-4 people, 4-6 people, 8 people, and 10 people per table, respectively.

While recommendations vary, a clearance of 36 to 42 inches from table edge to a wall or other furniture allows adequate space for seating plus a walkway behind the diners. Using this guideline, a dining room 10-by-12-feet long accommodates a table 36 to 42 inches wide and 60 to 72 inches long.
